About Us

The Charlotte Flute Choir is a group of professional and high-level amateur flutists who perform throughout the greater Charlotte area. In addition to playing many of the typical instruments found in a flute ensemble (piccolo, C flute, alto flute and bass flute), the choir also enjoys featuring the E-flat soprano flute, B-flat flute, and several other woodwinds in their concert repertoire.

Members of the flute choir include professional flutists, a professional oboist, an airline captain, a dentist, a professor of mathematics, a chemical engineer, a registered nurse, a staff sergeant of the 208th Army Band, a colonel in the NC Army National Guard, several public school educators, and many others.

Conductor, Daniel Strokis, joined the flute choir in 2012. Strokis attended Winthrop University, where he received his BM in Composition in 2013. While at Winthrop he studied music composition under Dr. Ronald Parks & Dr. L.M. Lewis, and classical guitar under Dr. L.H. Dickert. He is currently a software developer for Coca Cola Bottling Company, Consolidated in Charlotte, NC.

In 2017, the flute choir performed at Carmel Hills, Providence Meadows, Waltonwood Cotswold, Willow Grove, Southminster, Central Church of God, and Amity Presbyterian Church. The group also provided musical entertainment for the Southern Christmas Show.
